This site's history in a nutshell

This website is a new form of Art. It was started at the turn of the Millennium on free servers in 2001. Later, the domain polishhippy.com was created for it in 2002. Read about that event in one of this site's earliest Blog entries. PolishHippy.com was built as a historical tribute and a labor of love. It is an autobiography of a 1960s Chicago hippy. The website was made for all browsers but Internet Explorer set to Medium Text Size at 1024 X 768 monitor screen resolution and Java enabled are recommended (these are usual IE default settings), Flash may be useful but is not required. Most work on the site was done in Europe usually between 9:00 PM and 3:00 AM Central European Time. The site has dark backgrounds specially designed to reduce eyestrain and ideal for chilled out low room light conditions.

Why I've Built This Website

One of the main reasons why I was motivated to build this website was that many experts on the subject of the hippies that I noticed in the media were too young to participate in the movement or to even remember those days. Also, the history some were creating for us seemed to me somewhat warped. I also have to reject the concept of a "real hippie" I've come across because there were many alternative minded individuals in the hippie movement from various walks of life. We were as diverse as there are people in the world who shared the same ideas as we did/do. So after many years of intensive work, here's my website to tell about my individual experience. It was one that took me overseas to the Old Continent, saved me from the draft (Uncle Sam Wants You!), from the Vietnam War, it also saved me from a severe state of depression and vitamin deficiency brought about most probably by an unhealthy lifestyle, dramatic stress of life in the 1960s and drug abuse. It also opened my awareness to another way of life that was different from the one I knew back home in the States, one that I would want to return to in the future.

But this website is not only about the past. It has become my home on the Web. So, it is a place where my friends could find my photos, recordings, blogs and other recent stuff at one easy to remember Internet location. Therefore, it is a kind of an online autobiography, a personal journal or diary with original graphics and content created by the Author. So, I guess it could be said that PCs and the Internet have become expensive narcotics for some folks like me. Perhaps that's why whenever it's possible, I have to visit
Amsterdam once in a while to get away from it all. It has also become a form of artistic expression. Therefore, the website is a new form of Art.

An Appeal To Other Hippies

I guess many old hippies are not computer literate enough to build their own websites or just are not motivation enough for such an intellectual undertaking required for the construction of such a website. The few that are on the Web are hardly ever consulted when documentaries are made or articles are written on the subject. Therefore, Authors of media sources on the subject often have an upper hand in creating a history for us that is not always objective and true. Hence my appeal to fellow hippies is to build websites with their private photos, recordings, stories and memorabilia.

The simplest way to build a website may be by starting a Blog. You will probably be adding to your website or blog more stuff as time goes by. And from personal experience I can honestly say that it is a time consuming hobby. So, it may also be wise to learn how to build a real websites and not to count on free services that could close or change their service without notice. So, if you could make a hobby of it like model making or building ships in a bottle then that would be really cool. I also found Webmastering to be a lot like watchmaking and painting put together. So, it is a form of art, which combines many different artistic skills. Also, please try to do it not for profit and also don't expect too much traffic to your site in the beginning. What really counts is that you're on the Web where those who are interested in the subject will find you.

Web Site Designer and Developer for Hire

If you are looking for a Webmaster to design, construct, search engine optimize and/or maintain your website then I would be happy to hear from you. The websites I build use stable technologies that should outstand the test of time and changing fashions. They are also easy to service and will work well on all servers. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

Techno Geek Info
with some humor

To approach excellent user-friendliness, The Polish Hippy's website assurance architecture mandates hip-meeting-level attention to possible bi-directional postulated use of wavelength management technology. Of course, the incorporation of additional mission constraints effects a significant implementation of the management-by-contention principle. However, a constant flow of effective communication maximizes the efficiency of the fourth-generation independent functional product configuration baseline. For example, the fully integrated and user-friendly program if further compounded when taking into account the evolution of specifications over a given time period. In this regard, initiation of critical subsystem development requires extensive systems analysis and trade-off studies for maximization of structural design, based on system engineering concepts for possible future cybernetic use. So without going into any further technical details, to see the interrelation of system and/or subsystem technologies at their sophisticated physical layer structural design, based on system engineering concepts and possible bi-directional logical relationship approaches we should get out of this buzz talk for a while and party on to the next page.
